Alone in Rome

Last summer I found myself alone, in Rome. It was something I had always wanted to do, but, to be honest, I didn’t expect it to feel so strange.
Before I went, I had imagined all the things I would do, like visiting the Colosseum, eating gelato. But when I arrived, I realized that being alone in such a big city felt different from what I had imagined.
On the first day, I walked through the narrow streets, feeling a bit lost. If I hadn’t had a map, I would have probably got more lost. The city was busy, and I didn’t know anyone there, so I just explored by myself. At night I would sit alone at small cafes and watch the people around me.
I had never felt so alone in a big city before, but I also realized that being alone gave me a chance to think and enjoy my own company. Currently, I am glad that I took the trip, I learned a lot about myself.
But not the whole trip was peaceful. Here the plot twist comes, because basically I got lost. If I hadn’t been distracted by a “new friend”, I probably would have paid more attention. In the next part, I will tell you more about how I got out of the afore mentioned enormous problem.
