Can’t they be happy?

Amber rays of the sun tint the sky each day,

The moon that shines at nigh lights up the way.

Both live in the same house,

but the times are never the same.

One leaves as the other comes,

like a quiet, endless game.

We think of them as a pair,

like land and sea.

But we forget about distance that we cannot see.

Two completely different words,

walking the sky, holding a torch.

One we landed on, one we can’t even approach.

Once in a while they do finally meet,

hug as time flies by.

But it's not long before they have to say goodbye.

Even for a short moment,

they both smile and shine.

Awaiting their next date when they both align.

They say love can bloom between opposites,

pushing through pain.

Then how about those two? What do they gain?

These two that spend days thinking of each other,

Can they never really be happy together?
