End of the Beginning

Enjoy every moment—
it’ll be gone in a second.
But how can it disappear so quickly?
We’re talking about four years,
that’s a long time.
And yet, here we are,
only a few months away from graduation.
I should’ve listened
when they told me
that you blink twice, and it’s all gone.
A few months are left,
and then—who knows?
Who knows what will happen next?
The truth is, no one knows
where our paths will lead us.
Will we see each other again?
Yes? Maybe? I don’t know.
Will I get into my dream college?
Definitely? Probably? I’m not sure.
This is the hardest part of graduation:
no one knows where life will take you.
You have to figure it out on your own.
There’s no manual, no instructions.
You can’t follow a guide—
you just have to play this game
called life.
But unlike other games,
there are no other players.
You’re on your own.
The scary news is:
you’re on your own now.
But the cool news is:
you’re on your own now.
