Once upon a time, on a cold winter day, some children decided to build a big snowman in the park near their block. He had a round white body made of three snowballs put on top of each other. He had a large smile, and sparkling eyes made from small buttons. The children also gave him a red-white spotted pot on his head and a scarf on his neck.
Girls and boys were so happy with him, they named the snowman Flake, because the sun had been shining since winter started, but when the snowman was done, it started to snow. Despite the happy children, Flake felt sad. He knew that when the sun came back, he would melt, and he would never see the children again.
Every day he watched the children playing, wishing he could run, jump, play with them. One day the sun started to shine, and with that Flake began to melt. The snowman felt that no one would help him or would see him disappear. When he thought that his fate was written, a little girl from the block ran to him and hugged him. She said that she would save him. After about 10 minutes she came back with her father and a spade. They collected all the remaining snow and added it to the snowman’s body.
The next morning it snowed again. Flake escaped from melting. He became happy and so thankful for the girl. Flake realized that he just had to enjoy life as long as he had the chance. The snowman knew that he would disappear sometime, but he was precious to every day, and he never became sad again. If the little girl had not saved him, he would never have made that number of beautiful memories, because he had always been sad before.
