Not theirs

No, of course, being a woman is not all about being pretty
But how hard is it to be a woman and not be?
Lesser than women, that girl who’s not the beauty standard or just not allowed to be
The one who doesn’t have friends
or a perfect family
Any girl who isn’t perfect
With delicate wrists and a small nose
Any girl who has short hair
Or doesn’t wear make-up like the norm
Any girl who wasn’t “their” version of pretty
Isn’t allowed to be feminine really
“How threatening" they think
Only because I’m not always “pink”
But if this is womanhood, I will just not be a woman
I will be a Christian,
Someone who honors God
The one that paid a lot for my sins to be washed
Because my Father loves me the way I am
He gives forgiveness and mercy
And that’s all I need
For my life to be complete
