Our world

In a world full of happiness, joy, love, and excitement—

Children are building another world.

Another world for themselves.

The world bows to children—

crowns on their heads,

power in their eyes—

kings, queens, Big Bosses of the chaos we made.

And the parents?

Tiny little creatures.

Parents, who give all the love, all the knowledge,

shield us from every evil, every jeopardy.

They say we have bad manners.

But who taught us to speak?

Who taught us to throw words like stones?

Who modeled the volume of anger

at the dinner table?

They say we have contempt for authority.

But we have watched authority

bend rules like spoons over candle flames.

Children don’t care about other opinions—

We care only about ours.

Our thoughts.

Our choices.

Our chaos.

Children are indignant about the unknown.

Every unknown is important for us.

Because everything is a question, and we want answers.

They say we love chatter instead of exercise.

No!

We want our voices to be heard.

because silence?

Silence is captivity.

Silence is chains.

Silence is the cage before the door closes.

We will not be quiet.

We will not be small.

We are kings, queens, Big Bosses—

in a world of our own making.
