Once upon a time, a little girl named Roxy was born. Scarcely had she been born, when her father left. There was no one by her side except her best friend, named Martha.
While they had been taking care of Roxy together, she found out she was pregnant too. Martha and Roxy’s mother, Eve had such a strong bond and connection with each other that they were both blissful to help each other in raising children.
Roxy had been a smart and outstanding infant ever since she was born, and the two best friends raised her to be independent and strong, regardless of the situation. No sooner had Jack been born than Roxy adored him as if he was her brother.
As time passed, they grew up as best feiends, just like their parents. Sometimes children begin to fall in love with a certain close friend, but there had been no such signs between Jack and Roxy. They had been playing outside all day long, chasing each other or butterflies, especially when the warm season came, and they always got along well with each other. The older Jack got, the worse his eye condition was. Children had started to mock him.
“Oh, look, the one-eyed pirate!”
“Does he have a ship at home to sail the Caribbean Sea?”
If he hadn’t had Roxy as his best friend, he would have been all alone. The little girl always defended him as she could from all the meanaces. If only he hadn’t had to deal with such problems at a young age.
Over time all changed drastically. Jack’s family had to go to Germany in order to treat the boy’s eye condition. When Roxy found out that her best friend had to move to another country, she broke down in tears. Regardless of them missing each other, the treatments were necessary.
As they got older, their connection weakened on a daily basis, and suddenly, they didn’t talk at all. Roxy had decided that she would somehow find where Jack lived. She thought of a surprise for him, that was a mini-pirate with a boat. Eve asked her if that was a good idea. She thought yes, because the small gesture included meeting her childhood best friend.
Hadn’t she visited him then, they wouldn’t have got married by now. It meant a lot for Jack that she visited him, and suddenly they fell in love with each other. Since then, Roxy had had a question in her mind.
“Did his eye condition in fact worsen his life?”
