The strange stalker

Part 1

My life as Beatrice Sterling was pretty dull, nothing exciting, just the same old routine; get up, go to work, get home, do chores, go to sleep. Thus, I often fantasized about a life so different from mine, one filled with excitement and adventure.

My monotone life continued the same way, but when I noticed a man in his late thirties appearing wherever I went, I began to feel paranoid, and wished for my boring days to be back, when no one noticed me.

After a few weeks of him following me, I snapped, and demanded that he must either give a reason for his stalking or leave me alone forever, and that one moment changed my life and his forever.

His lips parted then closed, like he wanted to say something but didn’t know how to phrase it. Then after about a minute he confessed:

“But my dear Elisabeta, don’t you recognize me? It’s me, your love, Dracula!”

It gave me the shivers, and not the good kind. After about a minute of my shock, I realized I hadn’t yet responded, I hastily replied that he had the wrong person and began to walk away. However, he had grabbed my shoulder and begged me to stay. I, scared, yelled at him to check behind him and used his momentary confusion to yank my shoulder away and run for my life.

I successfully escaped that day, but his stalking began to get even worse after that. He always wanted to talk to me, and after a few weeks I gave him a chance to explain himself. Apparently, a long time ago, I was his love, and then I disappeared and he had been searching for me ever since. I felt bad for him in a way, but...

Part 2

I had had enough. The man's behaviour had been utterly disgusting. The last straw broke long ago, I needed a plan, and I just knew how to chase away Dracula eternally: to murder him. I had heard from social media multiple ways to assassinate a Vampire, so I luckily had a guide. I just needed to patiently wait for his arrival.

The moment I'd been waiting for arrived in a week. While I was reading an extraordinary book, I heard an unpleasant ringing voice. It was the door chime.

"Hello! Elisabeta. It's me, Dracula. May I enter your abode?" the disgusting blood-sucker uttered.

"One second!" I shouted. I got my weapon, hid it in my jacket and gave entry to the man.

"Elisabeta... finally you've let me in... by peeking into your apartment, I find the designs rather exquisite. You have an impeccable taste." Dracula said slowly.

"Thank you! Now, why did you search for me?"

"Well, I would like you to accept my offer for a date today. Do you perchance have leisure time?"

"Yes. Before that, do you want to stay for a tea?" I asked.

"Naturally."

"Please, sit down on the couch." I invited him deeper into the living room.

"May I move the cushions away? I do not want to dirty them. They look like they have been recently washed."

"Most certainly." I smiled.

Now, this is the perfect moment for me to complete my plan. While he focused on the pillows, he let his guard down. Without any sound, I pulled out my stashed wooden stake, slowly approached the vampire and pierced his heart.

"Elisabeta... why?"

"My name is Beatrice. Beatrice Stirling. I know I am similar to her, but please, get over her." I stated confidently, while eagerly watching Dracula slowly molt away from my living room, as from my life.

...

I won. I do not have a creepy stalker anymore. I have freedom to move anywhere, without anyone gazing at me. I'm so delighted.

The future after murdering Dracula was a mess, as I became immensely paranoid. I was frightened by the thought of a new stalker without my knowledge. After some time, the paranoia became more bearable, but it never left, however, my life became more peaceful. After some years of the occurred events, I found the love of my life and married him. Now we live our happily ever after like in the fairytales.
