It all began one day... No one could have predicted it. It happened so fast we didn’t even noticed that it started. I was a student at that time, I was in 9th grade, living my life just like any other kid at my age.
But that day I will always remember; it was a Monday. After I had finished my classes, I headed straight home. On the way home I got a notification on my phone, after that the air raid sirens all went on, I didn’t know what was happening, I ran home as fast I could…
I called my parents, but neither of them responded, so I acted fast. I packed my backpack, got food and water and other necessary supplies. I ran outside and saw a flashing light that burned over the cities, far away. Nothing was left, I was able to see that with my bare eyes as the explosion faded away, just fire and smoke was left.
I was lurking around the city center when I bumped into one of my old friends. He was scared, but I managed to calm him down, we both searched for shelter, it was obvious that some kind of war was ongoing, but no one seemed to know why, or who attacked us.
We ran towards the school when we were knocked on the ground by the force of an explosion. It seemed like a ballistic rocket had just hit the school; the streets were full of abandoned cars. By the time we got up, the whole city center was empty, we were the only ones standing in the middle.
We looked around and saw how the army was heading towards the airport, and suddenly, a machine rose from the ground and blew up all the tanks that were on the road. We ran as fast as we could toward the museum and tried to get to a safe point.
As we stopped running, I realized that John was injured, a shard of glass had flown into his arm…
To be continued…
