Bird in a Cage

Sometimes you feel as if a truck were wading through your heart.
You cannot think, your mind goes totally blank.
As if someone has turned off the lamp.
Until that moment everything felt dark.
But then, here it comes, it arrives.
As a spectacular moment of our lives.
Your body opts for overheating itself,
When you catch that mysterious gaze
And you cannot think of anything else.
It hurts. It gets even worse,
When you may assume
That you could be loved.
And eventually you realise
That it meant nothing for the other side.
You are reluctant to leave it all behind,
But you confess to yourself that you should beat it.
And next time, when you meet the same gaze, you remember.
You have advanced and you might just be smiling about it.
