Sacred Pretence

1 min read

You wretched souls, trapped in a concrete cage

Barely scraping by in such dreary age.

You denounce all that moves and breathes

For those creatures are wild, rackety and full of disease.

Your entrails are tremulous

Your consciousness odious

Chasing always

Clandestine ways

We deride your kind

As you deal with the ramifications

Of your wicked actions,

You will be left behind!

Your sins near myriad,

You are far from being a hero.

Similar to the Iliad

“Homer is long gone!” weeps his widow.

Yet you still live a sham,

Wasting away gram by gram.

Enveloped by all that is ferocious

One may relish in its hypnosis,

Should one have no way

Out of its decay!

Fragrant lies surround your cranium

Souls start filling with delirium

Twinges all over

Subjected to brutal exposure.

Must let go of your last morsel,

But worry not!

You will never be held liable

For your misdeeds!
